Introducing BRANDON JACKSON
MOVING MKE FORWARD
WHO IS BRANDON ?
I believe in MKE
As a born and bred Milwaukeean I have seen our city's potential and can remember how we once were.
We have long suffered being continually ranked the worst place in the nation for any number of things; more particularly this plight most plagues segments of our 4th Senate District. Change and restoration are LONG OVERDUE!
My work has always allowed me to politically advocate for, to encourage growth and representation from the background. Whether it was as a Research Associate for Medicare and Medicaid at the State of Tennessee while at Tennessee State University, or my time organizing while at DePaul University with the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, I have always enjoyed an ability to do the research and the writing that would gird many of our rights and secure funding for top organizations doing critical work worldwide. But conviction will no longer allow me to remain in the background while I and my community continue to suffer, lack, and decline; and because of that I am now a political candidate to represent our 4th District. From my tenure as an Americorps VISTA serving Milwaukee's then 184 public schools and the students and parents of the same advocating for increased funding and parental involvement to my time learning the ins and outs of the Milwaukee Electorate as an employee of the Milwaukee Election Commission up to my time as incumbent Senator Lena Taylor's legislative and at times outreach facilitator; ADVOCACY has long been my belief, practice, and work to increase the vitality and equity of Milwaukeeans. Particularly those that most often go voiceless, marginalized, under-served, and disadvantaged.
Let me tell you
Inclusion and Equity
Some rights are just inalienable
I have long been an advocate and proponent for rights that ensure everyone is protected from employers' discriminatory practices, has a right to a fair, unbiased criminal justice system, an ability to earn not just income but a livelihood, to garner the best possible education, and an ability to challenge every instance when those same rights are not afforded to us.
TURNING THE PAGE ON OUR FUTURE
When our youth believe then and only then will we know.
We have to totally reinvest in our youth. Increasing access to education, plugging the gaps in our public education, identifying the resources that will allow our youth to believe in the future, their future. To see what they can be versus where they might be and what it will take to get there. If they have no vision, MKE has no future.
WHERE ARE THE JOBS?
It's going to take new collaborative Innovative solutions.
We have to actively and aggressively approach this problem with a multifaceted plan. One that carefully but strategically addresses the root causes of our lack of vitally necessary good and well-paying jobs. As it is my belief that an undertaking of this scale calls for us to address the divestment we have made from public education and our educators to the recruitment of those industries best growing outside of Milwaukee and Wisconsin to identify the needs they have to make and create many of those same positions here and how do we develop a pipeline for our existing workforce. In the past two decades my opponent has lacked a focused and effective solution - and then watched the problem grow. We are long overdue for the overhaul that will restore the number of good and well-paying jobs the likes of what we know Milwaukee has seen and deserves. It is my belief that our current approach will only continue to yield us worst and declining results, statistics, and rankings.
Tell me how I can help.
